Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor.

 

A parte il nome astruso, è un tipo di semiconduttore che assorbe poca potenza elettrica per funzionare. Questo lo rende utile in congegni alimentati a batteria. Nei PC si usa la memoria CMOS per mantenere la data, l'ora ed altri parametri del sistema quando il computer è spento.
